<p>Filter for treating one or more liqs. and/or gas streams consists of at least 2 coarse and fine filter material layers, wound alternately as a coil in radial direction. The coarse filter material is permeable for larger- and the fine filter material is permeable for smaller particles. (a) The filter layers (7,8) consist of fleeces of synthetic filaments and/or fibres. (b) Each coarse filter layer (7) has thickness 5-50 mm. Each fine filter layer (8) has thickness 1-20 mm. (c) In the clean, unsoiled condition of the filter, (i) the respective flow resistances, R1 and R2, of the coarse- and fine filter layers (7,8) are expressed by: R1 is over 0 to less than 25 kPa.sec./sq.m. R2 is over 0 to less than 3000 kPa.sec./ sq.m., (ii) the respective degrees of openness, 01 and 02, of the coarse and fine filter layers, (7,8), are expressed by: 01 is over 0.95 to less than 1, 02 is over 0.8 to less than 1; (iii) the permeability of the coarse and fine filter layers, measured for spherical particles of dias. D1 and D2 for the coarse and fine filter layers respectively, is such that D1 is below 10 mm and D2 is below 1 mm. (d) The filter is built up so that at least one of the mass streams to be treated is charged from the outermost jacket surface and discharged in the core of the spiral filter packet or vice-versa.</p> |
