PRODUCTION OF METALLIC TUBE CONTAINING FILAMENT WITH SURPLUS LENGTH

PURPOSE:To produce a metallic tube contg. a filament having a surplus length in the stage of forming a metallic tape into a pipe and welding the same to produce the metallic tube by feeding the filament into the metallic tube at the speed higher than the forming speed of the metallic tube and under specified pushing force. CONSTITUTION:A metallic tape 2' such as an Al tape is fed from a tape supply 1 to a forming machine 3, and the seam of the tape 2' is welded by a welding machine 6 to produce continuously a metallic tube body 2. A filament 7 such as a plastic coated metallic wire or optical fiber core from a filament supply 6 is fed by a pushing machine 9 into the machine 3. The machine 9 pushes the filament 7 by means of a constant torque device 10 connected to a driving motor 11 into the body 2 at the speed higher than the pipe making speed and under specified pushing force. The filament 7 can be inserted smoothly in a zigzag condition into the metallic tube body by the device 10 in a way as to have the surplus length.
