PURPOSE:To read accurately characters even in an inferior working environment by putting marks on the surface of an article in such an arrangement that can specify characters, converting these marks into the picture data to obtain the coordinates and comparing the features of the coordinates with the prepared features to select characters. CONSTITUTION:Three marks are put on the surface of an article 1 in such an arrangement that can specify characters. This article 1 is converted into picture signals by a camera 2 and sent to an amplifying circuit 4 and a synchronizing signal separating circuit 9. The circuit 4 extracts the analog picture signals and amplifies them to deliver them to an A/D converter 5. The circuit 9 separates the synchronizing signal groups and delivers them to an address producing circuit 10, a memory write timing producing circuit 11 and a picture input deciding circuit 12 respectively. The circuit 10 forms the address of a picture memory 6 which stores the picture data. The circuit 11 produces the write timing to the circuit 6. The circuit 12 informs the end of writing to an MPU7. The MPU7 uses the picture data stored in the memory 6 to obtain the center coordinates of three circular marks constituting a character code. This center coordinates is compared with the coordinate value of the character code obtained previously. Thus the characters are recognized. |
