PURPOSE:To provide a titled device which improves the efficiency in conveying and hardening a long sized pipe material and to prevent the corrosion thereof by employing a constitution in which the long sized pipe material heated in a hardening furnace is conveyed at a high speed and is inserted continuously into a hardening header by bringing the front end thereof into contact with the rear end of the preceding pipe material. CONSTITUTION:A hardening installation, which places a steel pipe 2 heated under conveyance with a transfer 3 in a hardening furnace 1 onto the skew roller 4 of a conveyor 51, conveys longitudinally the same, then conveys the pipe by the skew roller 9 of a conveyor 52 and cools the pipe by passing the same in a hardening header 5; is provided with a radiation thermometer 24 for detecting the transferred pipe 2, radiation thermometer 25 for detecting the passage of the pipe 2, heat mass detector 26 for detecting the end of the pipe 2 inserted into the header 5, etc. The conveying speed of the pipe 2 is controlled by a control part 40 of a control device for conveyance. The steel pipe is then passed in the header 5 in the state of the rear end of the preceding steel pipe is held in contact with the front end of the succeeding steel pipe, by which the efficiency in conveying and hardening the pipe is improved, the intrusion of the cooling water in the pipe is prevented and the corrosion in the pipe is prevented. |
