PURPOSE:To perform continuous masking of an object to be coated having a complicated shape while bringing a roll mask into close contact with said object to be coated, by a method wherein a guide arm is attached to an advancing and retreating support member and the roll mask is closely contacted with the object to be coated by a press material along the intermediate part thereof. CONSTITUTION:A guide arm 10 is vertically provided to a freely advancing and retreating support member 9 and a press material 11 closely contacted with the surface of an object to be coated is provided to the lower end of said arm 10. In addition, a delivery roller 12 and a wind-up roller 13 each having a width same to that of the press member 11 are arranged to said support member 9 at both side positions holding the attaching base part of the guide arm 10 therebetween. In this case, a roll mask 14 is wound up by a wind-up roller little by little with every reciprocation of the support member 9. By this method, the roll mask can be always properly closely contacted with the new part of said object to be coated to perform simple and continuous masking.
