PURPOSE:The titled copolymer which has a high MW but yet is difficultly crystallizable, flexible and excellent in elasticity and elastic recovery, having a 2- methylpropylene ether group and a tetramethylene ether group as structural units. CONSTITUTION:A polyalkylene ether glycol copolymer having hydroxyl groups on both ends and a number-average MW of 200-10,000, wherein the structural units of formulas I and II are present in a molar ratio of 1:99-99:1. This copolymer can be obtained by copolymerizing 3-methyloxetane with tetrahydrofuran by ring opening in the presence of an acid catalyst (e.g., perchloric acid-fuming sulfuric acid or fluorosulfonic acid).
