Selective silver recovery from cuprous chloride soln.

Silver is selectively recovered from a cuprous chloride soln. by passing the soln. through a porous cathode held at a predetermined potential at which only silver electrodeposits at the cathode. In a hydrometallurgical copper recovery process in which an aq. cuprous chloride soln. contg. dissolved silver is produced, the soln. is treated as described in process (A), using a cathode potential of 100-150 mV w.r.t. a caloniel electrode, to deposit all the silver on the cathode and produce a silver-free copper soln. from which copper is recovered.
