PURPOSE:To perform a data editing process suitable to an output mode in a terminal system which visually outputs character pattern information, by optionally changing the number of data outputted for one line. CONSTITUTION:Control information for designating the picture size in the table 321 for control of a display controlling circuit 33 is given to a display controlling section 333 and switching circuit 335. The display controlling section 333 gives addresses to a memory 32 to read out and write information in the table 321 and picture memory 322. The addresses are successively updated by a dot counter 334 and character codes are successively read out and sent to a character generator 331. The switching circuit 335 switches and selects by timing generators 336 and 337 corresponding to different number of character per one line in accordance with a picture size designated from the table 321 for control.
