The test conveyor for the pneumatic testing of the wrapping of filter cigarettes has axial recesses for conveying the articles to be tested transversely to the axis during the testing operation. It is provided with sealing means (26, 26') for exerting a test pressure against the ends (46, 47) of each cigarette to be tested, with pressure supply means (38, 31, 29, 33, 32, 28, 28', 26, 26') for supplying a test pressure and for generating a pressure difference between the interior of the cigarette and the surrounding space, and with a measuring means (39) for recording changes in the test pressure as a function of predetermined parameters. The sealing means (26) assigned to the filter end (46) of the cigarettes (3) to be tested are designed as circumferential seals (27) enclosing the ends of the cigarettes in an annular manner. The sealing means (26') assigned to the burning end (47) of the cigarettes (3) are designed as end surface seals (27') which can be laid against the end surface of the cigarettes (3). <IMAGE>
