In the appliance, a base-driven transverse wheel assembly is provided, with a trailer bar attached to its frame, said bar being connectable to a tractor by top and bottom guide bars. The wheel assembly has closely-spaced individual wheels, a respective tine, rigidly connected to the frame, being arranged between the individual wheels in a projecting oblique position with respect to the base underside of the appliance. The individual wheels are vane wheels with radial vane leaves extending obliquely.
