The invention relates to a method and a device for the continuously adjustable control of the speed and/or acceleration of hydraulically driven working tools for linear or rotating or oscillating movements during pulsating loading with a hydraulic alternating flow. The object of the invention is to vary the speed and/or acceleration of working tools driven hydraulically by means of control units of this type, and in fact especially to periodically vary the speed and/or acceleration, so that not only can resonance points of the object to be machined be used by varying the frequency but so that especially advantageous values of the acceleration can also be utilised. This object is achieved by the invention owing to the fact that one or more pulsating fluid flows from or to the working tool are restricted and/or intensified to a varying degree upstream or downstream of the generator of the hydraulic alternating flow. The device according to the invention is distinguished by at least one adjustable restrictor valve in a feed line to the generator of the hydraulic alternating flow or to the working tool, or in the return line.
