Method and device for the successive portioning of pasty filling material, especially sausagemeat, the filling material being conveyed to an ejection device via at least one portioning element controlled in dependence on the desired quantity of filling material. The filling material is divided up into discrete sub-quantities of constant volume by a portioning element which is able to reciprocate between two conveying positions, which sub-quantities are smaller than the desired quantity and the sum of all the sub-quantities conveyed corresponds to the desired quantity of one portion. The portioning element has at least one chamber which corresponds to the discrete sub-quantity, which is in connection with the feed pipe for the filling material in the first conveying position and from which the filling material is expressed by means of a piston in the second conveying position. <IMAGE>
