PURPOSE:To eliminate inappropriate shift-up instructions and to make it possible to shift up in accordance with an instruction from an indicating device by sensing an engine speed and load and making a judgement whether or not having entered into a shift-up range by counting the throttle opening time, and terminating the shift-up instruction if such time is less than a predetermined value. CONSTITUTION:By detecting the engine speed and load, a throttle opening time is counted. A shift-up range is determined in correspondence with a pulse width TP that is in relation to the engine speed and load. After measuring a pulse width TP of a TP signal and determining the load, a judgement is made as to whether or not existing operating conditions are in the shift-up range. In accordance with the status of a shift-up flag, an indicator lamp 12 is turned on and a shift-up instruction is given when a signal outputted to a transistor 14 is at a high level. If at a low level, it is not turned on. |
