PURPOSE:A remedy for pancreatolithiasis dissolving pancreatic calculus exising in the ductus pancreaticus, having remedying effect on pancreatolithiasis, containing trimethadione or dimethadione well-known as a remedy for petit mal of epilepsy as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION:A remedy for pancreatolithiasis containing trimethadione or dimethadione as an active ingredient. Pancreatic calculus occurs during the course of chronic pancreatitis, especially alcoholic chronic pancreatitis, develops pancreatitis, and reduces secretion function in the interior and exterior of the pancrease. This time, the fact that dimethadione has dissolving action on pancreatic calculus, and is useful as a remedy for pancreatilithiasis is newly found. Although trimethadione has no directly dissolving action on pancratic calculus, it is demethylated in the organism, converted into dimethadione and useful as a remedy for pancreatilithiasis. A dose of trimethadione is 1-2g/day by oral medication. Dimethadione is preferably applied by intravenous medication.
