PURPOSE:To obtain an optical recording medium having high sensitivity even in a longer wavelength region and enabling repeated erasion and rewriting by forming a specified optical recording layer on a substrate having a light reflecting layer. CONSTITUTION:A light reflecting layer 2 is formed on a substrate 1, and an optical recording layer 3 of As2S3, As2Se3 or other amorphous chalcogenide causing photodarkening phenomenon is formed on the layer 2. An optical recording medium having high sensitivity even in a longer wavelength region and enabling repeated erasion and rewriting is obtd. by using said amorphous chalcogenide having its basic absorption end in a longer wavelength region and causing photodarkening phenomenon as the material of the layer 3. |
