PURPOSE:To protect the product from heat by automatically removing the heat of an auxiliary heater of an air conditioner for cooling as well as heating upon stopping a fan. CONSTITUTION:An air conditioner of a heat pump type equipped with a heater has a structure in which the room air is induced as shown by an arrow is heated by a condenser 4 and is further heated by an electric heater 5 and is blown out of a delivery port 6. A thermostat 9 is connected in parallel with a selection switch 10, and is so adjusted that it may be turned on when the unit internal temperature is 10-20 deg.C lower than the temperature B and turned off at a temperature 20-30 deg.C lower than the ON temperature. Therefore, even if the air conditioner is stabilized at B deg.C after a start-up and is stopped at the point A, the thermostat 9 has reached the ''ON'' temperature and a tap 14 is formed with a circuit via the thermostat 9 so that a fan may continue to turn to remove the residual heat from inside of the unit. The ambient temperature of the thermostat 9 becomes a thermostat ''OFF'' temperature of D deg.C several minutes after point C, and the thermostat 9 is turned off to cause the fan 8 to stop. Although the unit internal temperature may rise to E deg.C due to the residual heat, the increment is in the neighborhood of 10 deg.C and B deg.C will not be exceeded.
