PURPOSE:To expand the dynamic range of a signal output stage by operating an output gate electrode and a precharge gate electrode by means of a driving clock opposite in phase to each other so as to cancel each coupling capacitance of the precharge gate electrode and the output gate electrode. CONSTITUTION:The waveform of a gate voltage VOG impressed to the output gate electrode 8 of a signal output stage 9 of the charge coupling element and of a precharge voltage VPG impressed to the precharge gate electrode 6 is shown in Figure. The precharge voltage VPG is synchronized with a transfer clock phiCK of the charge transfer stage 3. Further, the gate voltage VOG impressed to the output gate electrode 8 is given with a voltage change in the opposite phase to the precharge voltage VPG. That is, in the method of this invention, the precharge gate electrode 6 of a signal output stage 9 of the charge coupling element and the output gate electrode 8 are operated by the driving clock in the opposite phase. Thus, the effect on an output signal due to the coupling capacitance C1 between the precharge gate electrode 6 and an N<+> region 5 is corrected by a coupling capacitance C2 between the output gate electrode 8 and the N<+> region 5. |
