PURPOSE:To attain low speed reproduction with high quality by producing a control signal from a tape running speed signal, a control signal allowing a reproducing head to track the center of a track and a control signal correcting an error due to bending of the track, and mixing them to control the head. CONSTITUTION:A control signal C1 is a sawtooth waveform control signal produced by a tape running speed signal (d) and a control signal C2 is a signal to bring a video reproducing head 2 onto the center of the track and a stepwise from control signal produced by the increase/decrease in a reproducing signal (b) and the control direction of the head 2 in the vertical direction of the video track. The signal C2 is a displacement signal giving a change of nearly 0.5- 1.0dB in the RF output from the head. A control signal C3 is a control signal correcting a tracking error due to the bending of both ends of the video track, the section at 1/3 of the track center is fixed to 0 potential, and the sawtooth control signal having a slope in response to the preset data is given to the section of 1/3 of both ends. These control signals C1, C2 and C3 are applied to a mixer 21 so as to obtain a reproducing head driving signal C.
