CLAVULONE DERIVATIVE

NEW MATERIAL:A compound of the formula (Ac is acetyl). EXAMPLE:20-Acetoxyclavulone-2. USE:An anti-inflammatory agent having inhibitory action on multiplication of granulation tissues found in an experiment thereon which is a kind of assay of anti-inflammatory action. PREPARATION:A coal Clavularia viridis is roughly extracted with methanol, and the resultant extract in an aqueous system is concentrated and further extracted with ethyl acetate. The extract is subjected to the silica gel chromatography, and the adsorbed extract is extracted with a mixed solvent of benzene and ethyl acetate at 10:1 ratio. A fraction containing clavulones 1-3 is collected while searching for them by the thin layer chromatography. The resultant fraction is further searched for by changing the mixing ratio between the benzene and the ethyl acetate to 5:1 to afford the aimed compound of the formula.
