PURPOSE:To reduce a number of neutralization treatment agents, by providing a plurality of horizontally placed stages each comprising a solid neutralization treatment agent to receiving trays each processed into a tapered form toward the inside thereof in a vertical direction while dripping a liquid to be subjected to neutralization treatment from the upper stage. CONSTITUTION:The highly acidic drain water generated in a heat recovery apparatus is flowed into the main body 7 of a neutralization treatment apparatus from a drain water introducing port 6 and dripped to the upper surface 16 of a first stage neutralization treatment agent 12 from a dripping port 11 while filtered through the filter 10 in a front chamber 9. Said filtered drain water is spreaded on the upper surface 16 and dripped to the taper part 16 of a receiving part 13 along the side surface 17 of said agent 12 to be discharged from a discharge port 18. As mentioned above, because the drain water is spread on the upper surface 16 of the neutralization treatment agent and further flowed along the side surface 17 and similarily flowed in the next stage, the large contact area of the neutralization treatment agent and the drain water is available and a number of the neutralization treatment agents can be reduced.
