Automatic open-jawed spanner

A description is given of an automatic open-jawed spanner having two-part jaws, one part of the jaws being connected fixedly to the spanner body and the other part being guided movably therein. The open-jawed spanner furthermore has a releaseable locking-member device with which the movable part of the open-jawed spanner can be fixed in its working position. The open-jawed spanner according to the invention provides a quick-acting tool which is flexible, can be used efficiently and above all is automatically re-gripping and one which operates in a similar way to known socket-type ratchet wrenches.
