PURPOSE:To determine chlorine ion in high accuracy, without using a compound requiring a particular caution, by utilizing an enzymatic reaction using chloroperoxidase. CONSTITUTION:Chlorine ion is determined by the enzymatic reaction in which chlorine ion reacts with a substrate or acts as a catalyst in the presence of chloroperoxidase and H2O2. The determination can be carried out by measuring the variation or the rate of variation of the substrate reacting with chlorine ion or the substrate used in the enzymatic reaction catalyzed by chlorine ion, the variation or the rate of variation of H2O2, or the variation of rate of variation of the chloride of the substrate or the reacted substrate produced by the enzymatic reaction. The time of measurement is selected within 30min after the start of the enzymatic reaction, e.g. about 5-10min from the start of the reaction.
