In a lock device for vehicles, having electronic coded keys, the securing and releasing of the various door locks takes place electronically using the voltage of the electrical system of the vehicle. So that the closing device also remains functional when the voltage of the vehicular system is below a given limit value, it is proposed to provide a voltage monitor which responds to the drop in the voltage of the vehicle electrical system and transfers a control element between two switching positions which activate or deactivate a linkage. The linkage connects a lock cylinder, which can be activated by means of a mechanically coded key, to the securing elements of at least one lock in a mechanical fashion.
