PURPOSE:To prepare the titled composition having excellent adhesivity, utilizing the whole components of wood, by using a lignocellulosic material having thermal flowability and meltability and obtained by introducing a substituent group to hydroxyl group e.g. by esterification, and if necessary kneading the cellulosic material with a specific amount of a thermoplastic polymer, etc. CONSTITUTION:A thermal flowability and meltability are imparted to a lignocellulose material by introducing one or more kinds of substituent groups (organic or inorganic group) to at least a part of the hydroxyl groups by esterification, etherification, etc. The obtained lignocellulose material is if necessary mixed with <=90wt% of a thermoplastic or thermosetting resin to obtain the objective lignocellulose hot-melt adhesive composition. When 0.1-10 times mole of the above lignocellulose material, based on the chemical species capable of adding and condensing to formalin (e.g. phenol, resorcinol, etc.) contained in the finally obtained adhesive, is added to an adhesive composition, a chemically modified lignocellulose formaldehyde adhesive composition can be obtained.
