The mechanism is intended for interweaving longitudinal strips (35,34 etc.) with transverse strips (2). Strips may be 12 cm wide and 6 mm thick or have any other suitable and possibly different dimensions. Mechanism comprises a table (3) on which the strips (2) are laid with the desired spacing (e.g. around 50 cm) against a stop (4) at one end, similarly spaced vertical bending units (37,39: 40,39) arranged at the other end and actuated to bend the strips (35,34) supplied at intervals (conveyor 30) into a wave shape, and spaced horizontal pushing units (41,42) actuated to push successive strips (35,34) to enter over and under the spaced strips (2).
