PURPOSE:To effectively use the small number of line buffers by sending blank data for representing line spaces without using any line buffers. CONSTITUTION:A control section 4 outputs select signals SA and SB based on a flag signal FA from a flag 5, flag signal FB from a flag 6, flag signal FC from a flag 8, and flag signal FD from a flag 9 and controls the output of printing data and that of blank data B from line buffers 1 and 2. When, for instance, the FD is ''0'', the line buffer 1 is assigned and the control section 4 outputs data stored in the line buffer 1 by setting the select signals in such a way that the SA is set to ''1'' and SB is set to ''2'' (however, when a printing signal n1 is ''1''). When the printing signal n1 is ''0'', the output of the line buffer 1 is completed, and the condition of the flag 9 is inverted and the FD goes to ''1'', both the FC and FB also go to ''0''. When the FB goes to ''0'', the mode is changed to one, under which the null data B are outputted, and the control section 4 sets both the select signals SA and SB to ''0''.
