PURPOSE:To obtain a highly reactive coke having a wide range of quality specification, by mixing a mixed coal consisting of caking coal and bony coal with briquetted coal consisting of bony coal and a binder, and carbonizing the resultant mixed coal. CONSTITUTION:(A) A mixed coal consisting of caking coal and bony coal is mixed with (B) briquetted coal consisting of (i) 80-100% bony coal, (ii) 20-0% caking coal and (iii) a binder, e.g. aromatic pitch and coal tar, etc. in an amount of preferably 20-30% based on 100% component (A), and the resultant mixed coal is then carbonized to give the aimed highly reactive coke.
