A predetermined volume 3 of a liquid to be analysed is circulated through a magnetised filtering lining, and the degree of solid fraction between the output of the liquid from the lining and its entry into the lining is measured. According to the invention, the liquid treated by circulation is periodically subjected to the action of an alternating magnetic field outside the said lining.
