PURPOSE:To obtain an extremely simple pulley-holding construction for constantly maintaining a flexible medium member in a constant tension condition, by imparting elasticity to a pulley-holding member itself, in feeding a carriage. CONSTITUTION:In a carriage-feeding mechanism F, a holding member 78 for a driven pulley 29 fitted to a side plate 14 on the left side is provided with a fitting part 79 having appropriate stiffness, and a substantially U-shaped holding part 80 is provided in the form of being bent slightly outwards from the fitting part 79. The holding part 80 is so constructed that when it is fitted to the side plate 14, 1t has elasticity according to the tension condition of a belt 31 in the stretching direction of the belt 31 indicated by (d). The driven pulley 29 is held in the holding part 80 of the holding member 78. When the belt 31 is moved by driving a motor 27 to thereby move the carriage E in the printing direction (c), even if the belt 31 is sagged or excessively tensioned, the condition is overcome by the elasticity of the holding member 78 for the driven pulley 29, so that the belt 31 can be constantly maintained in a constant tension condition. |
