The invention relates to a lock for inserting and delivering web-type materials on a vacuum or gas chamber, which is closed off towards the outside, on printing machines. The known locks for chambers of this type can only prevent the entry of atmospheric gas, escape of radiation or escape of toxic gases insufficiently at great technical expense. The invention is based on the object of changing the lock in such a way that an inlet slot is no longer required for the web of material, that is to say the drying chamber is sealed off hermetically. According to the invention, this object is achieved in that the insertion and delivery lock consists in each case of two rotatably mounted, driven cylinders which contact one another over the length, and in that the cylinders forming the insertion lock are each assigned a damping unit which ensures a film of damping medium which separates the printing ink on the web of material and the surface of the cylinders. With the invention, a web of material, freshly printed by perfecting, can be fed to the drying chamber from any desired direction and without smearing. <IMAGE>
