PURPOSE:To improve the compensation ability of a roll deflection and to enable the high draft rolling of a mill by correcting the total bending of a work roll by a variable crown roll and correcting the local bending by pushing out or drawing back sectional rolls. CONSTITUTION:A multistage rolling mill is constituted of an upper work roll 1, two intermediate rolls 2, and three back up rolls 3, 4, 4 at the upper side, and a lower work roll 5 and a back up roll 6 at the lower side. The back up roll 6 is constituted of a sleeve 12 and an arbor 11, and a stepped clearance 13 is formed peripherally between them to obtain a variable crown roll construction by introducing a pressurized medium into the clearance 13 for making the expansion of the sleeve 12 variable. Further, at least one of the back up rolls 3, 4, 4 is formed into plural sectional rolls 14 in the direction perpendicular to a pass line. |
