PURPOSE:To obtain a spring steel with superior warm stretch workability by adding specified amounts of C, Si, Mn, Cr and one or more among Al, V and Nb to Fe. CONSTITUTION:The composition of a spring steel is composed of, by weight, 0.4-0.75% C, 1-2.5% Si, 0.5-1% Mn, 0.1-1% Cr, one or more among 0.01- 0.1% Al, 0.03-0.3% V and 0.01-0.3% Nb, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. The grain size of the steel may be regulated to No.9 or above so as to improve the sag resistance, fatigue strength and warm stretch workability.
