PURPOSE:To speed up response of color erasion of an electrochromic display device using an electrochromic material made of a compd. resembling styryl derivs. by impressing voltage to a counter electrode at least in the early stage of color erasion. CONSTITUTION:Color of an electrochromic display device is erased by impressing GND potential to a display electrode 2, and voltage to a counter electrode 4 in the early stage of the color erasion, and after that, GND potential to the electrode 4. As a result, response of the color erasion of the electrochromic display device, ECD, using a styryl deriv. resembling compd. can be speeded up. |
