PURPOSE:To improve resistance to chemicals and steam, by blending a specified high-molecular polyethylene terephthalate with an arom. polycarbonate. CONSTITUTION:10-40pts.wt. high-molecular polyethylene terephthalate homopolymer having an intrinsic viscosity of 1.0dl/g or above as measured in a solvent mixture of phenol/tetrachloroethane (60:40 weight ratio) at 30 deg.C, is blended with 60-90pts.wt. arom. polycarbonate. When a low-molecular polyethylene terephthalate having an intrinsic viscosity of less than 1.0dl/g is used, the melt viscosity of the compsn. is lowered, through the impact resistance is greatly reduced. When the quantity of the arom. polycarbonate is less than 60pts.wt., the impact strength is greatly lowered so that the impact resistance inherent to the polycarbonate can no longer be retained, while when it exceeds 90pts.wt., the resistance to chemicals and steam cannot be improved.
