PURPOSE:To effect high-speed thin coating to such a degree that a rainbow pattern due to light interference does not appear, by scraping, in stages, a coating solution which is measured and applied to a high-speed running film by passing it, while still wet, through each measuring bar so that the amount of the attached solution may reach the desired level at the final stage. CONSTITUTION:A coating solution which is measured and applied to a plastic film running at a speed >=150m/min is scraped off stepwise while still wet by at least two measuring bars so that the amount of the attached coating solution may be decreased by at least 20-80% when it passes through one measuring bar and that the amount may be decreased to the desired level at the final stage, whereby it affords a thin film coating of a thickness <=1mu and it is dried. The coating unevenness can fall within + or -30% when it is measured by a light interference method by parallel white rays. It is possible to effect coating to such a degree that a rainbow pattern due to light interference does not appear and that its appearance is not injured.
