Dental synthetic materials enriched with fluoride for caries prophylaxis

The invention relates to the use of modified dental synthetic materials in various areas of odontology. By combining the use of synthetic materials in dental appliances and the principle of fluoridation for caries prophylaxis, the intention is that the risk factor of caries susceptibility in debris niches is substantially eliminated. The practical procedure in the claimed invention comprises admixing up to 20% (% by weight) of fluoride salts, for example 10% CaF2, with the commercially available synthetic material prepolymer, which is in solid form, for the purpose of processing and hardening together on polymerisation with commercially available monomer liquids which are present. When slightly soluble fluoride salts (e.g. calcium fluoride) are used it is moreover possible to ensure a fluoride concentration in the saliva which is required for caries prophylaxis (e.g. for CaF2 10 ppm for several months).
