PURPOSE:To provide a compact vermin repellent composed of a heat-generating material containing a small amount of metallic calcium, an insecticidal component and a fuming material, and capable of dissipating a large amount of insecticidal component in a short time taking advantage of the heat of the hydration reaction of metallic calcium. CONSTITUTION:A fuming material is prepared by mixing a thermally decomposable gas-generating substance which decomposes at 100-300 deg.C and emits a large amount of gas, e.g. nitrocellulose, etc. homogeneously with an insecticidal component such as permethrin, etc. and if necessary a heat-regulating agent such as sodium sulfate, etc., and granulating the mixture. Separately, a heat-generating material is prepared by putting granular metallic calcium or its mixture with a water-permeable carrier in a bag made of a film of a resin meltable at 150-300 deg.C, e.g. polyethylene, and the bag is sealed. The bag is put into a proper container, the fuming material is placed on the heat-generating material, and the container is sealed with a lid furnished with a closed fuming hole which is to be opened in use. The fuming hole is opened, the leg of a water-feeder is inserted into the heat-generating material and water is poured into the container to effect the heat-generation of the metallic calcium.
