PURPOSE:To obtain a dry method image high in quality by imagewise exposing and heating a thermodevelopable photosensitive material contg. photosensitive silver halide, a diffusion resistant 2-equiv. coupler capable of forming a mobile dye, etc. and fixing the produced mobile dye to a dye fixing layer. CONSTITUTION:A thermodevelopable photosensitive material is prepared by forming on a support a layer contg. photosensitive silver halide; a hydrophilic binder; an agent for reducing said silver halide, e.g. chloroaminophenol; a diffusion resistant 2-equiv. coupler capable of forming a mobile hydrophilic dye, represented by formula I or II; a hydrophilic hot solvent, e.g N-methylurea or pyridine-N-oxide; and the like. This thermodevelopable photosensitive material is imagewise exposed, and heat-developed to imagewise form a mobile dye in the unexposed areas. This dye is transferred in the presence of a hydrophilic hot solvent in a high temp. state, and fixed to a dye fixing layer to form an intended dry method image.
