PURPOSE:The coating films are cut at the boundary depression which has previously formed on the boundary between the parts to be and not to be coated and peeled off from the part not to be coated to give a coated product with good appearance without use of masking tapes. CONSTITUTION:Linear depressions 4, 4a are previously formed on the boundary line between the part to be coated 2, 2a and that not to be coated 3 on the surface of a synthetic resin product. Then, only the parts to be coated are pretreated with an activator and the product is coated all over the surface to form the coating film 5, then the coating film on the part not to be coated is peeled off, whereby the surface coating of the synthetic resin product is carried out. USE:The present process is suitable for surface coating of synthetic resin bumpers for cars.
