PURPOSE:To prevent a loss of heat transmission effect to reduce a pressure loss and to rovide a compact heat exchanger by making a shell side baffle of a shell and tube type to be of a spiral configuration so that a shell side fluid may flow all around the shell without stagnant spots. CONSTITUTION:A fluid flowing into from an opening A flows inside a cylindrical shell 1 as it is changed its direction by a baffle 5. By making the baffle 5 to be of a spiral configuration, the shell side fluid flows spirally along the surface of the baffle 5. Meanwhile, multiple tubes 2 are routed in the shell 1, and as the shell side fluid flows crossing the tubes 2, the heat exchange with a fluid inside the tubes 2 is done through the tube wall. As stagnant spots in the flow are eliminated by the spiral baffle 5 and the flow velocity is maintained constant, a loss of heat tansmission effect due to the stagnant spots and a pressure loss is reduced. In this manner, the size of the heat exchanger can be made compact, and the pump capacity may be made small. |
