PURPOSE:To detect easily the magnitude and the direction of a torque by converting the torque to a liquid quantity by a torque - phase converting part in a shaft, and a phase - liquid quantity converting part in the same shaft, and measuring it by a sensor of a static part. CONSTITUTION:When a torque is generated between an input revolving shaft 1 and an output revolving shaft 2, a force of twist operates between the shafts, and a force P1 in the rotating direction is applied to a ball 4. When the shape of a part which is in contact with the ball 4 of the end face of the output revolving shaft 2 is formed as shown in a development, a force P2 in the axial direction applied to the ball 4 is determined by the force P1 in the rotating direction and an inclination angle theta1, and the force P2 is shown as a prescribed value by an expression of a torque T. The force P2 in the axial direction applied to a piston 3 through the ball 4 is balanced with a reaction force of a spring 6 by contracting the spring 6, and when a phase difference between the input revolving shaft 1 and the output revolving shaft 2 is denoted as theta2, this phase difference theta2 is proportional to an absolute value of the torque T, therefore, a displacement of a piston 9 by oil 18 is transmitted to a piston 6, and its displacement quantity is measured by a position detector 17, by which the magnitude and the direction of the torque T can be measured. |
