PREPARATION OF BRASS MATERIAL

PURPOSE:To obtain a brass material reduced in stress corrosion cracking, by sealing the pores of the brass material formed by evaporating zinc from the surface of said brass material under heating prior to rolling or in parallel to rolling according to a sealer filling method. CONSTITUTION:A brass material is heated under vacuum and zinc is evaporated from the surface thereof to obtain a brass material having a large number of pores provided on the surface thereof. The pores of the brass material are closed by a sealer or by melting the surface thereof prior to rolling or in parallel to rolling. Subsequently, the brass material of which the pores are sealed is rolled whereupon the rolled brass material reduced in stress corrosion cracking is obtained.
