The character-carrying disc (3) is fixed, by radial displacement with the aid of claws (3d and 3e) onto a stake (8c) exhibited by a sleeve (8) fixed to the shaft (6) of the drive motor (2). A locking finger (12) is mounted so as to be able to slide longitudinally inside the sleeve (8). It may occupy a working position in which it projects forwards of the stake (8c) and engages in a central hole (14) exhibited by the character-carrying disc (3), thus both centring the latter on its drive shaft and holding it in position. This locking finger (10) may occupy a retracted position in which it disappears inside the sleeve (8) counter to the action of a return spring (13), in which position it releases the character-carrying disc (3) for the purpose of installing and removing it. <IMAGE>
