<p>There are provided ultraviolet light absorbing agents of the formula <IMAGE> wherein: <IMAGE> Y is H or OH; Z is H, OH, OQ or OW, where at least one Z is OH if Y is H; Q is -CONH(CH2)3Si(R2)x(OR1)y or -COHN(CH2)3Si(R2)x(OCOR1)y; and W is -CmH2m+1; where x=0, 1 or 2, y=1, 2 or 3, x+y=3, R1 and R2, independently, are each alkyl having 1 to 6 carbon atoms and m=1 to 18. Also provided are organopolysiloxane protective coating compositions containing said ultraviolet light absorbing agents having unique utility for protecting transparent plastic articles.</p> |
