The invention relates to a particle analysis apparatus for measuring particles in a flow. The apparatus has a flow-type cell containing two channels which are interlinked via a collection opening, disposed between them, for the particles flowing through, and a nozzle disposed near the downstream end of the downstream channel. Furthermore, an apparatus is provided for introducing an enveloping liquid into the downstream end of the downstream channel to envelop and hydrodynamically focus the particle stream as it flows through the downstream channel from the collection opening to the nozzle. <IMAGE>
