PURPOSE:To reduce the load of a host device and to process data at a high speed by providing a converting part on an interface between the host device and a magnetic disk device to perform conversion between a binary address and a cylinder head sector address. CONSTITUTION:An address mode converting part 1 is provided at an interface part of a magnetic disk controller IOC10. When the converting system works in a binary mode, a binary mode signal is applied to a detecting circuit 5. Under such conditions, a cylinder head sector address is delivered to a host device 11 from the IOC10. Then the part 1 delivers ''1'' after the circuit 5 detects the conditions of an end status, i.e., a state where the TX, BUSY, INT and A0 inversion are off, on, on and off respectively. Then the sector address is converted into a binary address by a converting circuit 2 and delivered to the device 11. While the circuit 2 of the part 1 converts the binary address sent from the device 11 into a cylinder head sector address and delivers it.
