A glass block wall having glass blocks which are separated from one another by joints and placed next to and above one another has a holding frame formed from retaining profiles of double T cross-section. The central webs of the retaining profiles are arranged in the joints between adjacent glass blocks and extend through the glass block wall. Each end flange, connected to a central web, of each retaining profile covers a joint in the region of an outer face of the glass block wall. The end flanges of each retaining profile receive between them in a retaining manner the glass blocks bearing on this retaining profile. In each retaining profile, at least one separate end flange part 7 is provided, having at least one locking connecting element 8 which is connectable to at least one corresponding locking connecting element 5 at one end of the central web 2 of the retaining profile in a positive locking connection. In an advantageous embodiment, each glass block 1 has strip-like projections 4 running at a distance from one another on each joint face 2, each of which projections extends close to one edge of the glass block, parallel to an outer face and along the entire length or height of the glass block.
