The invention relates to a sole made of flexible material for orthopaedic footwear, in which, to achieve a comfortable damped massage effect on the wearer foot, there are formed on the underside of the sole edgeless large-area profiled reinforcements (2), the size, shape, height and position of which are selected in such a manner that during walking a selective massage effect is produced on the wearer foot through the upper layer (1). The profiled reinforcements (2) have convexly curved sides which run edgelessly into their ground-contact surface (4) and open into the upper layer (1) with an obtuse angle alpha of at least 130 DEG , the thickness of the continuous upper layer (1) being approximately equal to the height (h) of the profiled reinforcements (2) arranged underneath and the sole material consisting of a highly elastic light foam with great restoring force and low residual deformation from compression. <IMAGE>
