An electrical switch having a switching piece which can be displaced in a housing and whose switching link interacts with a plurality of contacts and whose latching element interacts with a latching profile track which fixes a plurality of switching positions. The technical problem of the invention is to improve the latch. In particular, it is intended to be possible to implement different latching curves in a simple manner. A spring-loaded component (19) which carries out a rolling-off movement is provided as the latching element. The latching profile track consists, in mirror-image form, of a profiled curve (12) which is located in a plane inside the baseplate (2) and forms a guide groove for the component. <IMAGE>
