PURPOSE:To saccharify cellulose in high saccharifaction ability without causing pollution by various germs, by treating cellulose or a cellulose-containing material with a cellulase prepared from a culture of a mold belonging to the genus Acremonium. CONSTITUTION:A microorganism belonging to the genus Acremonium, capable of producing cellulase, is cultivated to give a cellulase, and cellulose or a cellulose-containing material is treated with the cellulase. The cellulase can act on cellulose such as avicel having high crystallizability and decompose it completely. The cellulase produced by the microorganism is a combined enzyme system consisting of enzyme group of enzyme acting on avicel having high crystallizability from characteristics of action, and natural cellulose can be completely decomposed into glucose by harmonized interaction of the enzyme group. |
